Activities

Post by kenzshaff on 6/20/2016, 12:41 pm

Still trying to get to know you guys and the other poll was just a failure to do that. So I'm going to try something different.
Sports: I'm not going to submit votes to what i do but i do/have done many sports, if its official or not.I was a hurdler for track. I swim, I dance(gymnastics, other forms etc), Ive done volleyball, Ive done karate (that didn't go far).
Music: Again I like a bunch of genres, but I'm equally all for old and new music. I'm a rock, pop, country, rap, jazz, hip hop, hard rock, type person.
Video Games: I actually haven't played anything else for a while besides Minecraft. GTA 5 is my specialty though and Sims 4
Volunteer: I try to volunteer but the things I want to volunteer for I'm too young. I volunteer for church activities and i want to volunteer more.
Work: I have a work permit but I'm only 14, but there are a few job openings for when i turn 15 (in less than 2 months)
School: For the most part, i like school (not the drama that comes with it). I love to read and am planning to heighten my GPA towards a 4.0. I take Spanish and Health Technologies as electives!

Feel free to comment what you do, thats why i made this post.

Here's a little bit of what i do:

For Sports: I do cheer for my school, dance for my school and dance for my dance academy.

Music: I like singing a lot. I hum a lot on teamspeak..

Video Games: It's either Minecraft, Second Life, or Roblox for me.

Volunteer: I usually "volunteer" at my local humane society. I more walk and play with the dogs, less than volunteering.

Work: I have no job since I am only 13 right now.

School: I am on summer, But I don't like school. Lol. I know the drama that happens in it. It's a lot.

That's just a bit about me :)

Re: Activities

Post by Epiccx on 6/20/2016, 2:20 pm

I'll just list my activities here:

Sports: hmm... well sports aren't really my thing.. someone tried to make me join track.. I might try it in spring, however it requires a lot of work and time.

Music: I have been playing the trumpet for about 3 years now? I might want to also play the clarinet in the future. I'll listen to really almost any type of music... however, my favorite music groups I listen to are: Twenty Øne Pilots, Panic! At the Disco, Fifth Harmony, Bebe Rexha, Ariana Grande,  hmm.. I can't think of anything else at the top of my head, but I'll try and list some more groups/artists when I get the chance.

Video Games: welll, besides minecraft I play some 3DS games, such as Animal Crossing New Leaf, Mario Kart 7, Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer, Legend of Zelda a Link Between Worlds, Tomodachi Life, and many more games. I mostly play Minecraft though.

Volunteer: last year in the summer I volunteered at nursing homes. This summer I am going to volunteer to be a teacher for a church summer school thing. It is only for a week but I am still nervous lol.. plus I don't speak too loud but I am kind of excited at the same time.

Work: I am almost a teenager but of course I don't have a job. Maybe for the future, I would like to work/own a bakery. If that doesn't happen maybe I will be like an artist or something and sell some art work. I have no idea what will happen because I have a big future ahead of me lol.

School: well, school just ended for me. But for this school year, to finish up my last year, I'm going to try and join a lot of after school activities such as an art club, interact (you basically make posters advertising stuff for the school or helping out with certain events etc.), and probably another club called K.A.R.E (for example you help people in need like for example making pillows/blankets, donating items for the homeless, also helping out with events too), I might also stay after school for band some days, or learn how to play the guitar and join guitar club. I really want to be active this school year lol, however I can't do everything.

Well that was a huge wall of text... I hope I didn't bore/bother you!

Re: Activities

Post by Agwyn on 6/20/2016, 10:09 pm

Sports: Back in High School (2005-2009) I played Field Hockey (goalie and L/R wing forward) and doubled as the equipment manager. I used to horseback ride in the summer (Western and English) and I was starting to learn to jump before getting out there was too expensive, gas got really bad up here during 2009 to 2014. Right now, I don't really do anything that would be 'traditional' sports. Cept maybe competitive pokemon battles?

Music: Uh... Anything not rap? I can typically enjoy most things, I was just at an opera last weekend and this week I've been listening to Euro pop so... yeah. Green Day, Linkin Park, Nightwish Avril Lavigne, Nickelback... I'm pretty down for whatever.

Video Games: Pokemon! Resident Evil, Fire Emblem, Zelda Twilight Princess (1st Zelda game for me),  Harvest Moon, FPS/Zombie Survival, ARK, Doom (DOS one), Skyrim/ESO, Warcraft 2 and Command and Conquer Red Alert Series.

Volunteer work: Well I am part of my church choir? I was voluntold for that years ago. I'd love to work with my local SPCA but they're 45 minutes away by car and I don't drive. I'd also love to work with horses again but, I don't drive so... lol Oh, I'm also staff on the server.

Work: Being gainfully unemployed! Actually I'm looking for a position as an insurance broker. Waiting on a call back atm. If I could have my dream job? I'd be a vet, but I was told in high school I was too stupid for the math and sciences and I listened...

Education:
2005-2009 High school: Some of the best and worst years of my life. Nevertheless, enjoy it guys I hope your years are awesome! (Drama sucks though).
2009- 2016 SO MUCH COLLEGE
Construction Engineering Technician: 09-11
Building Renovation Technician: 11-13
Small Business and Entrepreneurship 13-14 (Honours)
Business Fundamentals: 14-15*
Insurance: 15-16*

*I basically did both courses at the same time during 2015.

If anyone, including your teachers, tell you 'you're too stupid to [blank]' please don't listen to them because you are not. #Lifelessons

Re: Activities

Post by HealthMagazine on 6/20/2016, 10:22 pm

sports: I absolutely HATE all sports, the only kind of sport I do rather enjoy is swimming, i'm very good at it too :D
music: I listen to music in many languages (obv :P) and I enjoy a lot of music that was made after 2000's, I just cant stand old music (sorry XD) However USUALLY whats on the radio I dont enjoy, however I'm not saying my taste in music is any good (for others ahah) oh and I despise most bands
school: This was my 2nd year in High school, My first year in public school, I went to an all boys Jewish private school, so we learned basically ancient languages and scripts like the Torah and Gemarah (google it idk lol) I LOVE school, My total average is a 95.6 (over all the classes I ever took) more than half the classes I took/am taking are honors (since I worked really hard to get into it I love to brag about it :P) I LOVE Spanish class (got a 100 obv as I learn it on my own time)
hobbies: Playing Minecraft, using Duolingo to learn Spanish (gonna do Hebrew as soon as it comes out, meanwhile doing Dutch to tide me over as I completed Spanish today ahaha) I love watching Adult Swim (all besides robot chicken and the anime one).

Re: Activities

Post by jandavey on 6/20/2016, 11:30 pm

Volunteer Work: I mostly volunteer in the event that the school does something that benefits itself or the students that attend. Even though I'm not in the gardening club or anything, I will still gladly volunteer on a Saturday when they plant new flowers, water plants, and recycle. Usually, volunteering for the school does have its own benefits like free food. Like I remember serving food at a sküle event late at night (I swear an NSA agent was onto it because they made me serve salad!) and they let me eat the remaining food. (But I didn't eat salad because that's cannibalism)

Work: I used to buy and sell electronics on eBay. Winning cheap auctions, quickly buying cheap things the first minute they pop up under the newest listings, before selling them at prices often double what I paid for got me quite a bit. I once hit the jackpot when I bought a $50 GameCube bundle on an auction that included Super Smash bros, (which was $50 by itself) 2 Wavebird controllers with receivers ($30 each) and the actual GameCube with 2 wired generic controllers (sold at $26) as well as a memory card I'm still using. Though with the time it consumes vs. how much is made I would rather work somewhere considering the minimum wage here is $10 per hour.

Sküle: I'm currently in summer sküle to free space in my sküle year. I didn't take PE my freshman year because I was a queen and queens don't exercise. I have since been dethroned. Now I'm making up for it to have schedule space for other things in the regular sküle year. I really hope I don't fall down, break my face, and not be ale to go and then have to go to PE class in the regular sküle year. That would suck. I need that space to take Physics and get into a Biomedical science program but now that I'm transferring sküles I'm not sure that the new sküle would even have a biomedical science program. OR a George Glass. But come to think of it, I've never heard of a George Glass at our sküle.

Re: Activities

Post by Lina on 6/21/2016, 12:34 am

----Sports:

The Insomnia Olympics, my record is 82 hours without sleep.
I also really enjoy breathing.
----Music:

izumi4kona wrote:Electro, rock, and metal make up most of my music library. Then there's some punk, industrial, anime/game soundtracks, a touch of death metal, pop, k-pop, and some other things.

My top 10 at the moment, in no particular order:
Deftones, Emilie Autumn, Evanescence, Kaskade, Garbage, MSI, Stellar, Suicidal Tendencies, System of a Down, and Gary Moore

Favorites tend to change overtime as more music is discovered tho
----Games:
Favorite genre: RPG

Games that consume the most of my soul: Pokemon, Minecraft, Maplestory, Brave Frontier, and anything with "Mystery Dungeon" in the title.

Consoles/devices I've played on and owned game libraries for:
Windows (95, 98, XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10), Sega Genesis, Gamecube, Wii, Wii U, PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, GBC, GBA, GBA-SP, DS Lite, 3DS XL.

Non-videogames:
I used to be really into Pokemon TCG, but I haven't played in at least 6 years now.
Monopoly tho
----Volunteer:

I volunteer at a local parish a couple times a month (with my mom and brother) to help set up and clean up events (bingo, dinners, etc). I usually stick around and enjoy the events also (and spend way more than I should on bingo). Sometimes I get to make all the signs and banners. It's a really small community, and I'm pretty comfortable in our little group.
Sometimes I wonder what they'd think of me if they knew me better though.
----Work:

I was once an Amazon wearhouse picker (never again), then a janitor, and I currently work in an office. I do a mix of filing, computer maintenance, and odd tasks my boss or co-workers have for me. Two retina surgeons run the office. Non-surgery related appointments are handled here, and surgery is done at a hospital mega-fortress called Christiana Care.
I have also had a few art commissions on the side. One involved drawing sheep (J*-*)J

July is my year anniversary at my current job.
Hours are really flexible, I just don't earn any paid days off (holidays, sickness, vacation, etc). I can coordinate work around classes, doctors appointments, and the small personal day trips I can afford every few months. I give them advance notice when I need time off and I make them aware of my school schedule. I'm working full time now that summer is here. We can bring lunch or order out, and sometimes my main boss will buy us all lunch. Once a month, we pick a Friday and he buys us drinks at a nice bar in the city during happy hour. Vodka intensifies .v.
----School:

public elementary -> catholic middle -> charter highschool -> SVA for Cartooning -> DCAD for Illustration.

My health plummeted while I was away at my first college, so I moved home closer to all my doctors.

Delaware's public school system still haunts me in my dreams.

Re: Activities

Post by ChaosTheoryJRH on 6/21/2016, 6:18 am

Sports: Not really a sports guy. I mean I can throw a ball and everything, but I've never actually played on a team or anything like that.

Music: Mostly metal, metalcore, hard rock, rock. With a healthy mixture of other genres and artist mixed in. I play music too:
http://www.oasis-mc.net/t24244-oasis-artist-thread

Other vidyas: Pokemans (hyped for Sun and Moon). Some Halo and Call of Doody. A little GTA here and there. RPGs are a lot of fun, like Fallout, Skyrim. Borderlands is also one of my favorite series.

Volunteer act: not really anywhere to volunteer where I'm from. I'd love to help out at an animal shelter or help teach people music or something though.

Work: Meh, currently looking for another job after being laid off of my last. I drove an ice cream truck and made bank doing it lol.

School: Went to 2 different elementary school, 1 middle school, 1 high school. Dropped out of high school, got my GED, started attending college as a Computer Engineering major, changed it to Graphic Design last year.
