Chapter I

"So...I'm supposed to tell you a story. What the hell you want from me? There's a variety of stories. You got your comedies, your tragedies, those weird books that try to emulate fifty shades of grade, and if you don't know what that is? Don't bother, just a world of garbage that's about as gray as the story suggests. You have your romance type stories and you have those...weird, fever dream things that by the end of it you're left going "What the hell did I just see?" and they never make any sense and you're left there going-"
"SHUT UP!" His voice echoed through the small room, with such ferocity it made me jump in my chair. I heard the chair squeak and creak as I moved, looking back up at the man. "You can bullshit me all you want but you're not getting out of here until you tell me why ten men are dead and you were the only one left alive inside. You're gonna tell me why the walls look like something out of a fuckin' horror movie and why you don't have a scratch on you...TALK!"
The man slammed his fist on the table, rocking the steel, and nearly spilling the small plastic cup of water onto the floor. I couldn't help but watch as a couple of drops of water trickled down the side.
"I was hurt." I said finally. I looked up at the man and stared right into his eyes. "They tied me up. They ran knives across my cheek, burned my fingertips-" I quickly looked down as two things occurred to me. One was the fact that as I began to remember things again, it scared the hell out of me. Two? Well two I sounded bat shit mad. "I'm not a bad guy...I just...I..." I could feel that infamous lump in my throat build as the situation began to set in. I was sitting in an interrogation room. I was handcuffed to the table, I was looking at the scariest looking man in a suit and tie I had ever seen, and I couldn't stop shaking. Worse off was the fact that everything had happened, and I could remember it completely, but there wasn't shit I could say or do to prove it. Nothing. "I don't want to go to jail, please." My breathing became much heavier as hot, anxious tears began to sting the sides of my face. "You have to believe me when I say-"
"The only thing I believe right now is the fact there are ten corpses in the morgue, and you were the only person standing when we arrived-"
       "Don't you have cameras, something-"
"Every single video was corrupted, fiddled with by someone on site at the time of the murders. You claim they beat the living bejesus out of you, but your sitting there looking like you just walked out of a fuckin' beauty Pageant. Don't toy with me boy, I've seen people like you before. They'll say or do anything to get out of-"
"I didn't do anything, they attacked me!"
"PROVE IT!" The man screamed, so loud my ears rang. He leaned in over the table and looked me in the eye...I slowly began to crumble. My heart couldn't take it, I was already scared, and a million thoughts were searing my brain. I began to cry, I couldn't even fight it at that point. I guess the guy thought he had me in some weird pin, because he was milking me for all I was worth.
"You got one chance to tell me what happened. We have no evidence, no substance, just you. If you want to lessen your charges? You'll tell me everything. Who worked with you, what happened-"
"I wasn't with anyone, GOD!" I cried, breaking down in my chair, "I was alone! I'm always fucking alone! Don't you get it? I'm a no one, NO ONE ever notices me. It's like I'm doomed to live a life where my only goal is to get screwed at every turn! A drunk mother, a shit father, a screwed up school system and a government that NEVER gave a shit! No one ever cared-" I could hardly speak at that point. "No one- No one ever c-cared. Not for me." I gritted my teeth and looked up at the gigantic man, forcing myself to look at him. "And now? Because I can't explain what the hell my....my...I'm just...I'm just a bone, to be tossed away, and locked up because no one will ever come looking for the guy who was never there..." I sucked up the snot that was dribbling out of my nose and said, "Open. Shut. I'm perfect. You get your medal or whatever the fuck you get. I get sent away...and the world goes on. Meanwhile my fam-" It hit me even harder at that point. "They're probably not even looking for me. Then again... 20 year old weirdo sittin' here, crying his eyes out because he's as fucking lost as the day is long...and they don't even care..." I looked up at the man who had by now stood back up. His face softened and his shoulders weren't as far up on his head anymore. His gritty, wrinkled face let loose a long, heavy sigh as he pulled out a chair, and sat down.
"I've read a lot of faces in my work. Some people are good liars. Some people are stupid as shit and try to lie, even after we show them the video of them committing the crime itself. No sir, they'll deny it anyways, even as we put the cuffs on them. Then there are the good liars. The ones where they will look you in the eye and their pupils won't so much as twitch. No tells, no nothin'. Then there are the rare times the truth is told. But you? I can't tell." I rubbed my nose off my hoodie and looked back up to the man.
"I know the truth, okay? But no matter how I tell it, what I say, you'll never, ever believe me." The man leaned back in his chair and looked at me, shrugging.
"Try me." I shook my head and said,
"But I know how stupid it sound-"
"Do it. What else have you got to lose?" It was about that time the door opened and I promptly stood up, throwing the chair out from underneath me...however I forgot the fact that I was chained to the table. I screamed at the top of my lungs as my shoes slipped and I fell to the ground, still tugging the table!
"HELP!" I screamed, so loud my throat burned and my voice broke, "PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HELP ME!"
"Hush now" His voice was still soothing, even then, but I didn't care. Fear gripped my heart and drowned my lungs, even as he spoke...as loud as I was, I could still hear him just fine as he spoke. "You're in good hands now."
"I'm not in fucking good hand- HELP!" I screamed again, as the man got closer. "You're a cop, shoot him!" I couldn't see anything other than legs from underneath the table, but the man and...the thing were both standing on each end of the table.
"Guns will not be necessary here." The figure said. "Please, sit down and I will explain." The thing's voice was very soothing...too soothing for what he really was. "Please." The figure said again. I looked to my right and watched as the man pulled out a chair, and without a word sat down in silence.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING- PLEASE!! Oh...please, please, please, PLEASE-"
"Enough now friend." I looked up as he spoke. He was crouched down in front of the table, and in front of me. I looked into his eyes and my blood grew cold. I immediately began to shiver.
"Wha, what d-do you want? I stuttered, shivering as I looked into his eyes. He pursed his lips slightly and shook his head, and with a small smile said, "mmmm-nothing, I suppose. Now please, be still, you'll hurt yourself doing that." He tried to pat my knee but I threw my leg up, knocking his hand out of the way. His eyes flicked this way and that, as if he was genuinely confused. "Hm, alright." He said softly As he stood up, grabbing my chair off the floor and putting it back up on his legs. he sat down in the chair and I could hear as his hands bumped ever so softly against the table. "Now, I suppose I should begin from the start, yes?"

Prologue

Brown, shaggy hair what went near past my shoulders. Long, pale gaunt face. Blue eyes and a complexion that would make any connect the dots player shit in tall cotton. Not acne, just pock marks from picking at sores and pimples from when I was younger. I hated the way I looked. I despised it. I blinked several times before I realized was creating my own internal monologue, and that I had left the water in the sink running for far too long. I shook my head and turned off the water and grabbed my blue shirt and slid it over my torso. Well when I say blue shirt I mean used to be blue at one point, but it was now gray because we couldn't afford much else. I didn't care though. So long as there was a little blue left in my shirt, I wouldn't be blue myself...fucking bullshit.
"SETH!" I closed my eyes as I heard her voice and her bare feet tracking down the hall,       "Hurry the hell up! I have to use the bathroom!" I turned my head towards the door and shouted,
"You know you don't have to yell so loud that every neighbor in the friggen apartment can hear you!" A sudden bang on the door made me gasp as she screamed,
"Don't you get smart with me! I'll knock that smart out of your mouth! Get the hell out!"
"Okay!" I snapped, grabbing my worn gray hoodie from off the hook on the door, "I'm coming-" No sooner than I got the door open several slaps careened off the top of my head, and cheeks.
"Don't you smart mouth off to me. DO. YOU. HEAR-"
"STOP!" I shouted, backing away away from her slaps and escaping down the hall. I looked up at her, into her dark brown eyes, "Please. I get it, I'm sorry." She had curly brown hair and a look on her face that made me scared every time I looked at her. I couldn't ever hold a conversation with her. I just couldn't.
"Get your eyes off me boy." She snapped, forcing me to look away. A second later the bathroom door slammed shut and I shook my head, looking up at the ceiling. The once white ceiling was now long stained with nicotine and other curious spots. The floor wasn't in much better shape, and most of the time it smelled of beer, and vomit. Vomit that most of the time I had to clean up.
"Seth." Dad said suddenly. I turned around and looked down the hall of the apartment. He was sitting on the couch, leaned forward with his arms propped up against his knees. He was looking straight at the door to the hallway.
"Yeah?" I asked. Dad never talked to me.
"Come here." He said simply, waving me over. He never even looked at me.
"What is it?" I said softly as I walked out of the hallway and into the living room.
"Sit down." Slowly I walked to the love seat that sat across from the couch and sat down, and looked at him. Even though he was looking at me, it was like he was looking past me, and through the wall.
"What is it?" I asked again, looking at dad. Finally his eyes shifted slightly to the right and he looked at me, for like the first time in ages. "Is something wrong?" I asked him. For the longest time he just stared at me...he didn't say anything at all.
"You got any friends who might take you in for a couple of weeks?" He said finally, looking away as soon as he spoke. "You do have someone you can..."
"What are you saying-" I tried to ask, but Dad stopped me.
"Oh come on son, isn't it obvious?" He clapped his hands together. "We're being evicted! I can't find work, your mom's using her welfare for...that," He said, pointing to the copious amount of beer bottles in the kitchen, "And we can't pay our bills. Simple as that. We're getting kicked, and until you, your mother- pfft, or myself can find work? We're screwed." My breathing became slightly more erratic as I felt my mouth open ever so slightly.
      "I- But I- I can't-"
"You can't what Seth? Find work? Find a Hobby? Find Friends? Yeah, I know that. You're almost as useless as your mother." My mouth dropped a little lower as I looked at him. He closed his eyes and ran his hand down his face as he took in a large amount of air through his nostrils. "Look. I need you to do a favor for me. Got it?" I couldn't believe he would have asked me anything after what he said...but I couldn't say no. Pretending I didn't hear his earlier statement I asked him,
"What do you need me to do?" Next thing I knew there was a backpack  sitting on my lap. I began to feel uneasy as Dad said,
"Just take this to a man name Leroy Young. He'll take the bag from you, and pay you enough money to pay our bills for a month-" Before I could say or do anything his hand was pressed against the bag, his face only a few inches from mine. "Don't open the bag, don't look at the bag, don't treat it any different than a backpack. You understand?"
"Dad...?" I asked, my voice failing to rise above a whisper, "What's in the bag-"
"What did I JUST say?!?" He snapped in a harsh, yet quiet whisper. "Get this done. GO." He then placed a small piece of paper on top of the bag. "That's the address. Get there. Get back. Don't say a word to your mother. You got me?" I couldn't say anything at this point. I just nodded. "Good, now get the hell out of here. Hurry." Dad reached under my arm and picked me up, placing the backpack around my back. He pushed me forward, but grabbed me, placing the piece of paper in my hand. "Go." He said before pushing me towards the door. I walked halfway to the door but stopped.
"Dad, I don't know what this dude looks like-"
"He knows what you look like." Those words? Those words made me very uneasy...

After a few minutes I was outside, in the dark in the bitter cold. I looked back up towards our apartment and saw Dad, who simply urged me away. I flipped the hood up over my head to keep out the wind, and began walking down the street. Because of how we lived we couldn't afford a house, or hell, even a better apartment. For lack of a better term we were in a very bad part of town. At least once a week you'd hear guns popping off just down the road, and not a night went by when you wouldn't hear a man beating on his wife, or people screaming at each other just down the hall. It was nothing short of a hellhole, but as I began to walk, it became much more evident that "That hellhole" Was far more safe than being on the street. I looked at the paper and recognized the street name and began to head that way. It was at that point, I met him.
I had just passed "Born 2 Rites" Liquor store, a store Mom frequented often when a soft, kind voice sounded from behind me.
"Hello there." I jumped, and spun around, nearly falling on the ground as I Looked up at him. The man had parted, scarlet red hair and absolutely vivid green eyes. He was taller than I was, and very petite looking. He wore a long, black and red coat with a tall collar, and wore black cargo pants and black boots. He wore black leather gloves and as the wind blew, the tail of his coat waved and fluttered behind him.
"Uh...hi." I said, nodding as I turned around and began walking again. I coudl have sworn his eyes were glowing.
"How are you?" The man said simply. I continued to walk but I could hear his footsteps closing in behind me. It only made me want to move faster. "What's your name?" He asked in a curious, almost child like voice. It made me feel even more like I was about to die.
"I'm sorry, but I really have to go, this is important." Without missing a beat the man said simply,
"I know." My tread came to a halt as I looked behind me. By now he had come up beside me on the right and smiled. Confused and a little bit afraid I said,
"Are you uh...Leroy Young?" The man smiled and said,
"Hm? No, Goodness no. My name is Terran." I looked up at Terran and said,
"I thought I had a shitty name. You sound like you belong in a comic book- I'm sorry but I really have to get going-"
"It's okay, I'll walk with you." At this point I began to look around. Was I close enough to home to sprint back?
    "I'd...I'd rather not. I'm sorry, I don't know you-"
"I told you," Terran said with a slight nod, "My name is Terran. I like meeting new people. And you have quite a nice face." Slowly fear was beginning to turn to anger and irritation. I knew how my face really looked.
"Yeah, okay I get it, wanna take a selfie with the freak show? Go ahead if it will get you out of my hair." Apparently he saw the look on my face.
"I didn't mean to offend you, I was simply trying to be friendly- I'm sorry, a what? Selfie?" I cocked my eyebrow as I looked at Terran.
"Okay, now you're fucking with me. Goodbye." I turned around and continued to walk, taking a small look at Dad's note before moving on. However, just like before I coudl hear his footsteps behind me. I tried to ignore him, but he spoke anyways.
"Why must you use such vulgar terms? I'm sure there are many other words that can express your agitation. Like "Messing" Or "Fiddling" I believe that is a term anyways. As I said before, I truly meant no offence to anything I may have said. You see, I wanted to meet you, for quite some time now, but not under these circumstances-" I stopped, and spun on one heel and pushed Terran back before backing up myself.
"Look bud, it's one thing to mess with me, a whole 'nother thing to stalk me. Kay? Now back off, or I'll call the cops."
"You don't understand-" Terran said, shaking his head.
"Look asshole, BACK OFF!" I could feel my heart thumping against my ribcage. I didn't know why I was so scared of him. "I don't know who you are? But you're creeping me out dude. Don't follow me, and sure as shit don't watch me-"
"I simply thought you could use a friend. You see, I'm looking for a friend too-"
"It's called face book. Use it." I tried to turn around again before he said,
"Face...book? A book of faces? I didn't believe you had anything quite like that-"
"What the hell ever!" I snapped as I turned, picked up my pace and continued to walk.
"Please!" Terran cried out from behind me, "I'm not trying to scare you-"
"Leave me alone!" From that point I walked, and didn't stop until I was four blocks away. I finally looked behind me...and he was gone.

After about a forty five minute walk I arrived at the address. It was a warehouse off the side of Baulcum and East street, long since abandoned after the sugar factory moved its business overseas. I made my way across the broken, icy parking lot and to the front door. I began to feel uneasy again, just like when Terran was around. I looked behind me, and all around me, but I never saw anything at all. I looked back at the door and everything told me "Run you stupid boy, run!" But...I couldn't. If we were gonna lose our home? This was going to be the only chance I had to make things right. I looked up at the rusted metal doors and knocked. I didn't hear anything at first, so I said,
"Uh...Le-Leroy Young?" As soon as I said the name I heard the latch undo on the door and I watched as the creaky, squealy door opened up into a dark space inside.
"In. Now." A deep, menacing voice said. My inner brain was screaming at me to run. However, before I could decide a hand grabbed my throat, drug me inside...and knocked me out.

Just...believe me when I say I don't want to recall what happened to me here, okay? I'll give you the short version. For two hours ten men laughed as I cried, giggled as they cut into my face and burned my fingertips. Not my fingers, just the tips. I cried even harder each time they kicked me, or punched me in the back of my head. I never found out which one was Leroy for sure, but I can only assume the guy that was holding the bag, and was on his phone the entire time was it.
"You betta come up wit more dan wat you be gettin' me. I ain't no mon to be played like a little puzzle box bruddah. You tink I'm gonna accept dis scrawny lookin' white boy for da payment? Nah you be messed up in dah brain mon. Now I gotta go an' chop 'im up ta little bits an' scatter 'im cross da river bank...If you ain't got da payment bruddah I take it in blood." He pressed a button on his phone and tossed it on a nearby machine and looked at me, holding the bag in his right hand....funny. I can remember what he did, even what hand he had the bag in...but I can't remember his face. The man walked to me and unzipped the bag and poured out into my lap two blocks of pot, wrapped in cellophane and tapped with duct tape.
"Do ya know what dis is brederen?" The man asked me. I simply nodded. He nodded as well and said, "Den ya know dis ain't enough for what your daddy be sayin'. Your daddy sold you out grastah and I be feelin' for ya loss." It was then he pulled out a large, silver machete. I couldn't even cry, I couldn't scream. I fumbled a bit but that was it!
"I dunt git ripped off by some man tinkin' he gonna play me bruddah. I get my payment, den I'm gonna get it again. I dun care who you are, you be a no body, a ghost in da crowd. I see it in your face, I see it in your eyes, dey be hatin' on da world, which is why der ain't gonna be no world left to be hatin' back on you." He placed the blade against my neck. I felt like i was going to puke, right then and there...but I couldn't.
"I be sorry for now. But I ain't gonna be tinkin' of ya tomorrow mornin' Take a bit of peace knowin' you'll be remembad for a few hours least." The man raised the machete high into the air. "Don't be worryin' ya pretty head mon. Ya won't be feelin' a thing-"
Out of nowhere the doors of the sugar factory blasted open as a fierce wind tore into the factory floor!

"I do apologize for stepping in, I truly am, but I'm afraid I simply cannot let you chop my friend into tiny bits and scatter him along the river banks." I looked to my left and saw the silhouette of Terran against the night sky. If nothing else I knew the voice right away. I looked back to the man who held the machete as he shook his head and said,
"It's simply too late for dat mon-" Before he could even swing the machete flew from his fingertips and landed nearby on the ground, skittering across the concrete! The man turned and looked at Terran and snapped,
      "How did ya-"
"One last time. Please release the young man, and I won't rip your skin off your flesh and plaster it to the wall.
"Is dat a threat?" The man snapped, stepping forward.
"No." Terran said, his voice still as soft as it was when I met him. "I believe it is something people like you tend to call a promise." The man chuckled lightly before he began to laugh hysterically! He laughed for several seconds as Terran said, "Perhaps you do not understand the dire situation you and your friends are in. The power which flows in this room is not that of your blades, drugs and guns. The power in the room is that of mine and mine alone. A power, upon which you could fathom for years and never comprehend the scope of its capabilities. I say once more to let the young man on the ground go, and you will not be harmed. Fail to heed my warning and i will destroy you all. Body. And soul."
"Kill dis man please, he's letting all of da warm air out." The man flicked his hand and I could hear countless guns being raised. "Now would be very preferable."
"This mistake is not in my hands." Terran said simply. I looked to Terran as he flicked his left wrist. It was then I watched in horror as black mist filled the area around him! I could see the outlines of a scythe, but before it was fully formed...he...he killed everyone.

Terran looked at the first man and raised his hand. Next thing I knew the man was soaring across the air! Terran spun the scythe around his body...I watched as blood poured from the body as it split in two! Before the man hit the ground the two halves of the body shot in two different directions, the sounds of blood splattering on the concrete sounded sick to my ears! People began to scream. I couldn't see much, but I could feel blood beggining to pool around me. Gunshots sounded all of ten seconds before it stopped. Every...single one of them were dead...except one.
"I gave you a chance." I looked up and I could feel Terran behind me. I looked in front of me and the man looked at Terran in pure horror.
"Ya-Ya don't understand me bruddah! It was a mistake I realize dat now-" The next thing I knew, the machete had lifted from the ground, soaring through the air! The blade sliced through the man's skull like butter! He fell to his knees...his lifeless eyes looking right at me. before he fell into my lap. I began to scream, at the top of my lungs but a hand was pressed on my shoulder.
"It's okay my friend. Help is on the way."

I felt calm....
                 I was so tired....
                                        I just....needed to....to...sleep.

My, how intriguing. Cant wait for more!

Lets just all decide right now not to compare this to the last story, shall we? Simply evaluate this in its own right, without comparing it to the Spooktacular or vice versa. We wouldnt want to cheapen either tale with petty little comparative judgements. Simple etiquette, please.

Chapter 2

"Everything I have told you is the truth. There's no variance in the details and there is no reason to pursue this young man any further than you already have, do you understand?" I snapped awake from underneath the desk, jerking my numb hands and arms back, pulling the table with me as I realized where I was. I didn't remember falling asleep...and I sure as hell didn't want to fall asleep again, not here, not with...that.
"Ah, I see my young friend is awake!" I turned my head to the right, just in time to see Terran smile before he raised his head back up to the detective police guy man. I didn't know who he was, he never friggen introduced himself. "I'm taking him out of here. You will not remember this and by the time you have left the building, not you, your department, nor the collective memory of the earth itself will have ever known that this young man, or the drug runners you had been watching, had ever existed."
"I've always existed..." I mumbled, before I could catch myself. I looked up to the bottom of the table in half fear, half confusion. I had no idea why I said anything at all.
"Indeed you have." I looked over to Terran, who was sitting with his arms placed on his knees. He immediately put me to mind of my father. He always sat like that, looking worried and ready to break. The only difference was this man, Terran had a look of nonchalance about him as he looked at me, with a small smile and red hair that seemed to burn against the overhead florescent light of the interrogation room. "Now, shall we get out of here?" He reached for my hand and I instinctively pulled away, forgetting I was chained to a table, and I was pretty much helpless to anything and everything at the moment.
"HEY!" I screamed, once more kicking Terran's hands back, "Back off!" I looked to my left and saw the detective guy still sitting there, not saying a word. I looked back to Terran and snapped, "Why the hell is he not talking?!?"
"He's perfectly alive and well you know. He's simply waiting; well I am rather. Come along now, I'm not going to hurt you." I watched as he reached for not my hand, but the handcuff instead. He stuck out his index finger and touched the chain...and what I saw, I simply couldn't believe.
As he touched the chain i watched it age. I know that sounds stupid, but I watched it rust right in front of me! As if hundreds upon hundreds of years of decay had hit the chain I watched as the handcuffed rusted and began to peeling and flow away! The chain fell first, literally falling away into dust as the rest of the handcuff followed suit, crumbling into a brown dirt that fell into my lap. As soon as the handcuffs dissolved my limp hands fell into my lap, and began to throb as blood began coursing through them again, filling my arms with that same dull throb as if you sat, or slept on it.
"How...HOW!?!" I screamed, backing out from underneath the table, scrambling to the nearby wall and standing, planting my back against the glass. I looked at Terran, who simply sat in the chair, smiling up at me. "HOW!?!" I repeated, unable to say much else!
"My, my you truly seem to have a rather poor vocabulary-"
"I'm not a fucking thesaurus- shut up! You melted a fucking pair of handcuffs in front of me! Who the hell are you!?!" My heart was trying to escape my throat, in it's own attempt to run out of the room! My hands felt like they could produce an ocean of sweat and my entire body felt like it was about to give, right then and there. I watched as Terran simply shook his head and stood up, heading towards the door.
"Shall we?" Terran said simply as he opened the door into the interrogation room. "I'm sure that the inspector would like to move on with his night, as well as everyone else in this department." It was then I looked over to the man. He had been sitting at the table, the entire time, not saying a single word. His eyes were half open and his mouth was open, as if he was going to say something...but he wasn't blinking, and for that matter, his tongue was stuck in half roll...but it wasn't moving, like the rest of him...
"What did-" I tried to say, before Terran cut me off once again.
"I promise you he's very much alive and well." Terran told me, looking at the man briefly before looking back out into the hallway, "And as soon as we are gone, he'll had forgotten why he's here, want a cup off coffee and some food, and that will be the end of that."
"Cameras, files, bodies, They'll see me!" I tried to explain.
"My friend, you were never here." Terran told me with a smile. "Now please, shall we move on? It's getting quite chilly outside, and I don't think you like the snow too much." The fact of the matter was I hated snow. Despised it. How he knew? I don't know.
"Why do you know so much about me?" I asked finally, stepping off the wall, trying to swallow my heart, trying to be brave when the only thing I could do was try not to cry.
"If you'll simply follow me? I'll explain everything. I promise." He cocked his eyebrows as if he was waiting for an answer. Finally I took in a deep breath and said,
"Okay, fine. But you're leading, I'm staying way the fuck back here, and you're gonna explain everything to me. You understand?" Terran simply smiled and said,
      "Of course young friend!"
      "I'm not your friend."
      "I understand friend-"
"STOP!" I shouted, "Go, just- Just go!" Terran shook his head and walked out of the room. Very hesitantly I followed Terran, and walked out of the room. We were on the first floor of the NJPD, a place I had frequently visited on the account of my mother. I hated the smell of the place, it was always off to me and it gave a sick feeling in my stomach. Nevertheless I stepped out of the room and into the hall, and looked around. What I saw? My brain simply couldn't understand...

The police department...was stuck. Like in time. I don't know how else to put it, I'm sorry. I looked around and people were stuck, mid stride. Things were incredibly quiet and there was even a prisoner, in cuffs and chains fighting against the police...but it was all stuck in time. Even the spit from his screaming voice was floating in the air, twinkling against the light of the room. My head began to spin as my knees buckled and gave, but before I hit the floor, Terran's hand gripped my arm, and pulled me back to a standing position.
"Are you okay friend?" I looked up to Terran and managed to snap,
"I have a name you know-"
"You never gave it to me!" Terran chuckled, "So I couldn't use it!" My mouth opened slightly as I said,
"Yet you know everything else about me- look, it's Seth, okay?" I pulled away, still looking at the spectacle around me. "It's Seth."
"It's very nice to meet you Seth." Terran said with a slight nod, "Now, Seth, Shall we leave this place? It has a very bad air to it."
"You mean smell?" I asked, slowly beginning to walk forward.
"Hm, perhaps." He replied, looking towards the exit. "The door to the outside is right-"
"I know perfectly well where it is." I snapped. My brain was beginning to hurt and I just...I had to get out, ya know? So I stepped forward at a brisk walk, then a jog, then a full out run before I had made it outside. I threw open the doors and got to the bottom of the steps before falling on my knees, and I began to heave as I began to puke, all over the sidewalk.
"UGH! Come on man!" I saw a pair of feet walk past me, then I saw the floor again as I began to puke again, dry heaves and phlegm, where all that came out.
"Is uh...your friend there okay?" I heard the voice of a woman say, before Terran said,
"Yes Ma'am, he's fine. He's just had a slightly longer night than what he is used to."
       "Is he drunk?"
"Drunk? No, of course not. I don't think the young man has ever tasted liquor before in his life."
       "Is he sick?"
"A bit strained, perhaps, but not sick."
"Perhaps you should get him home then."
"I will, thank you Ma'am." I could hear the woman walk away as Terran sat down beside of me, on the steps of the Police department. "Hm, I suppose I owe you some explanations?" I looked up to Terran and snapped,
"NAW! Ya don't think?" I wiped what little vomit I had off my chin with my sleeve. "You've got a whole HELL OF A LOT more than you think." Terran smiled and shook his head.
"Well then, walk with me, and I'll answer anything you ask. Come along." Terran then stood up, and offered his hand towards mine. "You need help up?"
"Fuck you! I'm not touching your fucking...death hand!" Terran chuckled and shoved his hands in his pocket and said, "It only affects what I want it to you know. Come on now, it's getting cold."

Chapter 3

"Fucking death hand, hm?" Terran said to me as we began to walk down the street, back towards the house, "You seem to certainly be quite the descriptive person." He smiled for a moment before he looked away from me, and placed his hands back in his coat pocket. I looked at him for a moment, then back to the ground...I had absolutely no idea on what to say, nothing. So I started with the obvious.
"There are dead men back there!" I shouted, pointing behind me, "In pieces, in fucking chunks! I watched a man's eyeballs glaze over as he DIED and fell into my lap! I watched as a man three times my size was ready to throw me into fucking prison, and I will not sleep the same ever fucking again!" Terran cut his left eye to me, and cocked his eyebrow but said nothing. "And you....you...you!" I said, throwing my hands out towards him, "You're walking along like you just bought a...uh, big ass bag of candy, smiling like it was nothing!" I shook my head and snapped, "And you say it's gonna be okay- YOU," I shouted, fighting the urge to punch the man in the face, "You don't know my family. You don't know my father, my mother, you don't know what they can do-"
"Robert and Felicia will be fine." Terran said suddenly. I stopped dead in my tracks.
"How?" After a moment Terran stopped, turned on one heel and looked at me. "No- You've done a lot of fucked up shit tonight, but how the hell do you know everything there is to know about me?" Terran closed his eyes and shook his head and said,
"I think you know full well how I know-"
"NO. I don't. I want you to tell me." I stepped in front of Terran and grabbed his jacket and snapped, "I want to know who you are, how you killed all of those guys back there and how the hell you know me, and my family." I shook him and Terran jerked back and forth, smiling slightly, saying nothing. "TELL ME!" I pushed him back and added, "You said you'd explain everything. You owe me that much."
"You're a smart person Seth, why don't you tell me?" Terran said simply, shrugging his shoulders. "I know you can-"
"No. You made a deal and I want my answers you-"
"I shook no hands, and I signed no paper. That is, of course, I have done so and not remembered it. But I do believe I would have known if I had done such a thing. Yes?" I looked back and forth, between his left eye, and right. Something I could only call rage and fear having a demon baby began to well up inside of me.
"Goddammit please, Tell me something so I know I'm not fucking crazy! PLEASE!" I could hear my voice echoing down the icy, empty street. "Please."
"Then ask me a question." Terran said. By now the smile had faded and his eyes were remarkably serious. "And I'll answer it." I could feel my fingers digging into my palm, and I could feel the heat of my cheeks as I looked at him...well glared I suppose. I didn't have a mirror at the time, and I guess I wouldn't even had looked at it, even if I had it.
"How do you know who I am? My family? How do you know us?" Terran took a breath himself and told me,
"I have collective knowledge of anyone who has lived, everyone who has died, and everyone who will die. Not you, nor your family escape this collage of information, and in time, you, as well as they will die. In knowing this knowledge I also know who they are, and what kind of person they are." Terran looked down briefly, watching his breath curiously before looking back up at me. "Next?" I was even more confused than I was before. I couldn't understand what he was saying, even though he was talking like I should have known exactly what he was talking about, to the T. I didn't want to make this any more confusing, so instead I asked,
"Who are you, really?" Terran cocked and eyebrow and said,
      "My name is Terran."
      "No. Who-what are you?"
"This depends on what you want." Terran's complex answers were beginning to wear on me.
"I want your identity!" Terran chuckled and said,
"I do believe that is impossible for you."
"WHO ARE YOU!?!" I snapped. Terran quit smiling once again as he shook his head.
"I am the the beginning after life's end. I am the epilogue. I am the prologue. I am the blank page at the beginning and end of every book. I am always there but never seen, until the very end. I am the hand that holds you, or I am the chain that drags you away. I am the one who is always watched yet never, ever seen. I am the one that many seek but never find, and I am the one people run away from, but never escape." I blinked several times. Finally I said,
"What the hell are you talking about?" Terran's eyes looked up at my own as he asked,
"You couldn't possibly be that ignorant, could you?" I shook my head and said,
"Look if you're trying to play me, you won, okay? Just do me a favor and stay the hell away from me. I don't ever want to see you again!" As I turned around I saw an emotion on Terran I hadn't seen yet. Hurt, and surprise. I ignored this and turned around, and began to walk home, all the while trying to figure out what the hell I was going to tell my Dad. Obviously he got the phone call, and No doubt Mom knew now as well. Fuck...what was I gonna do-
     "Seth, I'm sorry-"
     "Screw off-"
"I'm death, Seth." I stopped, turning around to face Terran. "I'm what you all would call, the Grim Reaper." I looked at Terran...and I couldn't help it. I began to laugh. I began to laugh hysterically hard!
"Y-yeah! I'm fucking Santa! Ahahahahaha!" Without missing a beat, Terran said,
"The white fellow with the white beard and red suit?" He then added, "I've not seen this man in the book, and I'm not quite sure why older gentleman try to emulate him-"
"Screw off!" I snapped, feeling flustered all over again, "You win-"
"What must I do to prove to you that I am who I am?" Once more I stopped. His voice...was literally in my head. Slowly I turned around, feeling as my jaw ever so slowly dropped. "I came to you for a reason." He told me. I...I could very much hear him, but his mouth did not move. Instead it echoed in my head, still soft, still soothing...yet remarkably terrifying. "I wasn't lying when I said I had no friends." He took two steps forward, but stopped. "I wasn't lying when I wanted to actually make one friend who didn't want to be friends because of who am, or what I am. I wanted to make a friend...a genuine one." I couldn't say anything. Maybe it was the fact his voice in my brain was making it next to impossible to think, or speak. I'm really not sure. Terran shook his head slightly and said,
"I thought that maybe...perhaps if I found someone who truly had no friends, yet had a heart for one, that I could perhaps...let go, for a while, and be what you may call...alive." I slowly shut my mouth and tried to think of something to say. I couldn't. Even as I desperately tried to come up with something that could be akin to speech, he actually spoke, from his mouth this time.
"I am sorry you know." His eyes locked with mine. "I wasn't trying to scare you, you must understand. I see so much disdain, murder and chaos everyday. I see people who die alone, murdered in some ditch, or basement. Many of these people are never found, and I am the only one who will ever know there names. Wars, famine, disease...death seems so commonplace with you all, I was...I had...Hm." Terran pursed his lips, as if thinking for the right words. "I had assumed that since this world is brimming with death and blood, seeing it would not have affected you as much as it had. I am sorry."
"Before tonight..." I said, struggling with any kind of words, "I've only seen my nanna die. Back in 2006. I was...what?"
"You were Seven." Terran said, finishing my sentence. "It was a rather sad day for you. At the hospital, you, your mother and father were sitting next to your grandmother, at King James Hospital. You, at your grandmother's request, were at her side, holding her hand. Your father was at the door frame, with a nurse behind him. They all knew she was going...all save you. Your mother stood at the foot of her bed, rubbing her legs, and you were singing to her, like you used to do before she became ill." As Terran talked to me, Once more I could feel tears building, and I could feel my chest tightening and throat closing. Those were memories I had long suppressed.
"She stopped you at one point, and she looked at you. You looked at her and you asked her why she was crying. She looked back at you and said it was because you were crying."
"I..." I managed to choke as I could feel hot tears beginning to run down my face. "...how?" I squeaked. Instead of answering me, he simply continued to talk.
"It was then she weakly pulled her hand from yours and you gripped her bed covers, because you were scared to lose the warmth of her hand, so you hid it in the bed sheet to conserve it for as long as you could." I could remember doing that...I had forgotten about that. I knew she was dying...but I thought...
"She wiped away your tears and she told you that no matter what, don't let the world break you down, and never EVER let that shining twinkle in your eye die down because it made you beautiful. It was then she closed her eyes, and her hand slipped off your cheek, and onto the back of you hand. At first you were as soft as a mouse, gingerly whispering Nanna into her ear. It then built into a scream and finally a muffled cry as you cried into her hand. It was at that point I took your grandmother and we stepped away. But not before her spirit kissed you on the forehead. That was the cold wind that you felt on your head that day that made you shiver so violently. That was her."
I lost the next several minutes. I cried harder than the day she died. I cried harder than every time my mother beat me, and I cried harder than every time I was bullied at school. All of those moments melted away to this one point in time, where Terran recalled my Nanna's dying words, detail for detail. At some point I must have fell on the ground, because by the time I came to my senses Terran was standing nearby with his hand outstretched. I had no idea how long he had been standing like that.
"That ground is remarkably dirty and cold. You should stand up, lest you become sick." Terran flicked his wrist and looked down on me. I took his hand and he pulled me up. It was then he said, "I'm sorry for bothering you Seth. Thank you for giving me a little of your time. You'll not see me again. But I won't forget your kindness." Terran turned around and began to walk away!
"Wait, please, Terran-" He was simply gone. The feeling of fear was gone...but it was quickly replaced by another, horrible dreadful fear. A fear that I had made and awful, and terrible mistake. "Terran!" I shouted, looking all around me for him, "Please, I'm sorry! I want to be your friend!" I ran up the street a ways and shouted, "Terran! I can't...please...don't let me face this alone...I don't...I can't-"
"Get some help you goddamned psycho!" The voice jarred me. I looked across the street and a man stood, staring at me, shaking his head. "Fucking druggie." He said before he turned and continued to walk down the street. Realizing then that I had royally fucked up, I turned back towards the house, pulled my hood over my head...and began making my way back home...
