My Favorite Oasis Memory

Post by biocreeper187 on 4/26/2014, 10:52 pm

My Favorite Oasis Memory comes from the first time i got greifed and Lina came to the crime scene and rolled back the missing part of  house, That whole time I was thinking "yay staff actually helps on this server!"

Can I add my first memory here? I like the idea :3

First off, I remember the spawn. It was a massive circular building with giant statues inside the dome, and when you walked through the doorway you were in a garden like place with water and stone pathways in ever larger circles radiating out from the center. No screenshots, but the picture comes up in Leagle's sig every once in a while (I think).

The next thing I know, me and my friend JAMESTHEJRAGON are in this town (Riverside, I think), in his massive tower. He had a huge multi-story house, and each story would be a different block. He had diamond, gold, leaves, logs, and it was incredible. My house was a three story cobble outhouse compared to his. As I started to explore, I found more and more towns with more and more people. Towns back then weren't like towns today. They had cute names like RoseTree or Riverside or Mountainview, and were home to at least twenty people each. And Commander City- That place was incredible. That was back when Chair was Architect and could pour time into his builds.

Thirdly, I remember all the old staff- they were great. I don't know if you've noticed, but this was a LONG time ago. Few staff back then are even around now. Leagle and Krazo (Back then he was still Floris), Taccypoo, and Davidmitch were the only staff that were around back then that are still here. Mad was still a Veteran (?).  Kingnothing01 was my favorite admin ever, even though he was so sarcastic (probably because he was so sarcastic). BroadStreetBully was great, partly because he was a Flyers fan. Nostalgia man.

My First Oasis memory wasn't too long ago.
I came on for the first time  in January of this year. I had just gotten my own MC account that same day. Although it wasn't the first time I had played MC it had been at least a year since I had played it. (I only had ever played offline single player worlds.) So the day I joined was semi-confusing as well as very fun. I remember being welcomed but didn't say anything in chat for at least a couple of days lol. My brother Badgger_88 showed me around their town and told me where I could build. So I got right to work! PLAY4LOL, JKMB95, and chef_burke were all very helpful and gave me some stuff to start with. Then a month later I applied for member. Took me long enough lol. Well I could probably keep going with more memories but I think that enough for now. See you in game!

My 1st memory...Please hold your laughs until the end.  P face

My irl friend (LordTomenon) showed me this server. It was the map with the huge spawn castle made by Dixi (???) and the hedge maze. I spent about half an hour exploring spawn and I ended up on top of the castle and jumped down to a lower ledge on the outside of it. I didn't know that god mode was on (didn't even know what it was back then) at spawn and I also didn't know I could warp places, so the only way I knew to get down was jump, but it was from a deadly height and without god mode, I would surely die from the fall. I stood there for about an hour waiting for LordTomenon to come on but didn't want to die and lose my stuff (because I thought I would spawn in a random place somewhere far away) so I just stood there mentally freaking out. Finally I got sick of doing nothing and asked if someone could go to spawn and find me and go to the ground where I would land and get my stuff and give it back. That is when he explained to me the whole god mode thing and the warping stuff. I felt like an idiot.

But then again, it was my 1st multiplayer server I had ever played on and I had never seen any videos or whatnot of multiplayer servers on Youtube or anywhere else, so I didn't know about any of the special stuff xD.  P face

Not sure if it's my absolute favourite, but a great moment was a few months ago. I had accumulated a large amount of melon, about a double chest full of slices. Because I didn't want them I put up a free melon chest in my town. For a few days, no melons disappeared, nobody really went to my town and it wasn't in /warp warp, so this was expected. Then, one day I looked in the chest, and to my upmost surprise, there remained only a solitary stack of melon! The chat Thai followed was something like this:

Fithboy: Someone has taken almost a full chest of melon from my town
Fithboy: They were free so I'm not mad, just want to know who needed about 2000 slices of melon XD
Boberus [I think it was Bober at least]:I'll check the logs
Bober: I know who it is. And they're still online :P
Fithboy: I have to guess?
Bomber: yes. You have one question
*Bubblegum [again, I think it was Bubblegum, not quite sure] left the game*
Fithboy: are they still online?
Bober: No
Fithboy: XD

My first oasis memory was in like early april of 2012 when I was going to buy a plot from one of Genocide604's towns and I was trying to pay him and I was a noob and getting confused with mcmmo and it said **YOU READY YOUR PICAXE** **YOU LOWER YOUR PICAXE** and genocide was so confused when i look back at that memory I laugh of how much of a noob I was.

1.4 Sheep Island

Big_Piglet, Kippotec, xOCMx, grenzionky(now maskira8), mry, momogowi (my brother), and I mainly lived here after Can Town kinda grew quiet, and I think a few others popped in every so often (_bisongirl_ was around a lot ;w;). Our builds filled the island full of pixelarts, sheep statues, a couple Castle Ruins, Rainbow Factory, Rainbow Tower, a Floating island, a Ravine Sniper Platform to murder the mobs that spawned on the sides, Entrance to an abandon Dungeon Town that was taken over by Iron Golems, a Giant Floating Pepsi Can, several bridges/skybridges/stairways, Momogowi's Emergency Evacuation Safety Bunker, Logan's Cheese House, Logan's Magic Floating Gravel house, mushroom farms, and I think a massive potato farm at some point. I'm missing some stuff ;-; I wish I had more screenshots too...

This was after the water froze during the Great Sheep IceAge (and this is my old skin), many pixelarts, the pepsi can, the Sacred Charmander in the distance, back of the sheep statues, on the right is the corner of momogowi's Emergency Evacuation Bunker:

This was before the water froze all my fountains XD on the right is the enormous sheep pen, and in the ocean is Kip's abandon DungeonTown Entrance:

Part of one of my weird houses, the Sacred Sky Charmander, and stairway up to the Rainbow Factory (I've since rebuilt the factory a lot bigger then it was then... but I miss my old one... wish i had screenshots of it):

Eventually there was the Great Sheep Drought, in which the entire ocean surrounding the island was mysteriously drained. It became a haven for clay farming and hostile mob spawns where the water used to be. Took daily trips below sea level to collect clay and mobdrops while searching for world holes to the void that kept popping up. The island ceased to exist after to map reset, but the sheep statue Pax built there has been saved ;w;

I kinda vaguely remember my first Oasis moment, but my favorite one was from last map. I was making a chain of islands, and needed to go to spawn to get some Armour and stuff. But one day while adventuring, I lost my home, and ended up searching for it for 2 hours. But I had no idea what set home was, and finally fount that house 5000 blocks from where I was standing xD

the only thing I remember during my first time on oasis was the giant floating glass orbs that were spawn, the pvp orbs, also with a shop that never reopened, and the promos, every time, the treehouse was closed, and my first friend on oasis was lina, she convinced me to get member in an hour. XD. I also remember that we had an end portal at spawn(I wish we still had that) and everyone going at once and getting all da lvls and ender pearls, after the map reset, I was so sad, telling everyone that the roses would disappear, I warned everyone he day before the server reset, the end was coming. It came, quickly. I also remember seeing two people PH maps and saying that they were greifed since I had no clue why there were missing blocks. Ah the memories. ;-; I miss 1.6, and the roses

Geez, there's a lot to all of my memories

One of my best memories was meeting Lina, probably her favorite too even though she didn't say it just let it happen.

My favorite I guess would have to be Tanaka's hotel in 1.2, and the other factor would be being on a pvp team with geno, osga, and shadow, those where the glory days, and I really do miss them.

Haha I really like this post, it's channeling my Oasis nostalgia.

One great one and kind of on-going one was meeting/talking in teamspeak with Keshaluver, Kevo, Jawell, Olivia, Because I met them here on Oasis, and well Kevin and I go waaaay back. I love spending long summer nights talking with you guys. haha if you guys are reading this, you guys rock and thanks for being awesome for over 2 years!!! love you guys!

Another one would be getting Guide (What Jrmod used to be called) back in January 2013 haha I remember like running through my house (irl) I was so excited, and staffing as a whole was a great experience and looking back on it now I really did love it!

Another fantastic one was making terrabithia with Bigg and Cupcake, I remember staying up until like 2 a.m. building the huge wall and talking to Bigg about Pokemon all night long, haha the mems. Also that's where we all met so I'm really thankful for that too. Love you guys both!!! (and bigg it wouldn't kill you to take a break from college and talk to your pal?)

(the wall i was talking about, it goes around the whole castle.)

Re: My Favorite Oasis Memory

Post by Shnoork on 4/28/2014, 9:12 pm

I think my favourite memories of Oasis had to be in 1.4. This started for me a few weeks after I had joined the server, early-mid January of last year. Since this was my first multiplayer experience, I was somewhat shy in chat (still kinda am) and talked rarely. Even so, I managed to make dozens of friends (who have all disapeared). How, you ask? The pumpkins.

For those of you not around in 1.4, spawn had this horseshoe sort of shape with the tips pointing towards a huge majestic castle. I would basically put a pumpkin on my head and run up and down that horseshoe for around an hour at a time. This is why i always keep a stack of pumpkins on me, so i can instantly create a bond with anyone to come by spawn. I still remember having hordes of people running around spawn with me, everyone wearing a pumpkin. This was when i never really had much to do at home, so i was putting around 4 hours of play time a day, something that doesnt happen now...

I actually still do this pretty much whenever im on the server, only problem is so few people frequent spawn now and im rarely online anymore. I still have regular spawn buddies though, like Apple, who i see every now and then. But nonetheless, my favourite Oasis memories have to be running around spawn for stupid amounts of time. My longest was 2 hours, I really had nothing to do that day XD

Now that I think about it, theres been many great times to be had on Oasis. PvP in 1.4 when Jacopley made that base on a mushroom island, spawnkour, all the builds I've procrastonated on (only finished 4 so far, for various reasons) and even back when /slap all would happen on a semi-regular basis. Oasis is really a place where stories are made.

(Wow, dats long. Yeah, sorry bout that)

Re: My Favorite Oasis Memory

Post by Gweedo358 on 4/30/2014, 12:21 pm

I have so many fav moments on Oasis, this one stands out for me.

It was when I got guide. I will never forget the day. I was on early as usual everyone was happy promos was coming in a few hours. I was just running around my town checking for griefs and stocking the store. Promo was near so I went to the clubhouse and waited that day we had a full house there was no room for anyone else. I stood there and watched all of the people get promoted as I notice more and more people around me, I tried not to move much cause I could tell they moved with me. More and more showed up around me as mad was saying this "And now for new staff"
The people around me closed in, there had to be 20 or so jumping up and down around me yelling Gweedo for guide, Gweedo for guide, is all you could see in the chat. When Mad said my name for Guide all I could see was people jumping up and down all over me. I couldn't speak, I couldn't even type, for me it was one of the most touching moments in my life.

The support for me on this server is what holds me up on days when I cant do it by myself. You are all my family. You all are a wonderful group of people.

Thank you so much from my heart, you all give me the best memories a man could ask for.

Re: My Favorite Oasis Memory

Post by Paxination on 4/30/2014, 3:52 pm

Just like Gweedo, I have many fond memories on Oasis. But my favorite would have to be the day I got guide as well.

Soooo...since I am an OWNER of the server, some of ya'll who are still young to the server dont know the hole story, and unless you were staff that day, even the old players dont know the FULL story!

So yeah, I originally didnt own the server, and neither did Madsci!

I first joined Oasis on Oct 6th, 2012. I believe my forum date is the 8th or 9th? Any rate, I was there to witness the GREAT AND WONDERFUL GWEEDO get promoted. This was the first promos I had been to on Oasis and the very thought of it intrigued me. So I made sure to attend the next one in November.

Now I had only been on the server for 2 short months by the time November promos came along. And let me be honest, my guide app on here, was falsified. I'll explain why in a bit.

Well 2pm Nov. 24th came. We are all waiting and chanting, running around and jumping at the club house. Then 2:30 came and we are all like, uhh, why hasnt promos started? Then 3pm came and we are all getting extremely restless. Staff were not talking in chat at all. So something was up.

So around 3:15pm EST....lol.....Gweedo pm's me in game and ask me if i can get on TS for a sec.

WTF DID I JUST DO?

Oh shit....lol. I tell him sure. The second I join I am pulled into the staff room and there it is, all the current active staff at that time, as well as Ariley and Saint. After getting all the 'HEYs' out, I hear someone, Kevo maybe?, ask me if I would like to be a GUIDE!

My reply was, and I'm not even kidding.... "CAN I GO CHANGE MY PANTS REAL QUICK?" LOL...they all started laughing and are like well we need a reply like yesterday... So, pretty obvious what my reply was. I accepted it. Now, at this moment they realize that i dont have a staff app and think that they should fake one so no one would complain that I didnt have one. It turns out that I was more or less hand picked by Ariley and Saint because of my activity on the server and how close I was to the community. And because of my nick name that Tanaka gave me...."Uncle Pax" was what brought up the idea of me being guide when they were deciding on a new staff member at that moment.

I also want to mention that this was the same promos that my best friend/bud Taccy was re-promoted back into staff as a guide as well! We were guide buddies!

The day I became owner is for another day.

<3 Oasis!

Re: My Favorite Oasis Memory

I've been putting this off for so long because the feels.

My favorite Oasis memory is probably more of a forum experience, but more or less it's Oasis. This...
Taccy wrote:I've been on Oasis for what's nearing 2 and a half years. I've had the pleasure of meeting and befriending so many fantastic people. There's literally hundreds of fantastic characters and personalities that have entered our server, and yet Apple has constantly stood out to me and many others as one of Oasis' best. She is consistently friendly and a pleasure to talk to, I really don't have anything bad to say. She's an amazing builder, an active player and a great friend, her only fault being the lack of Veteran besides her name.

Vooch.

Luke, made me feel like I was making some kind of difference on the server, and this leads me into my true favorite memory that's rather recent. Getting JrMod, this is like REALLY recent, but most people don't know how long it took Luke to convince me to apply.  He sat there for two hours giving me reasons to  apply. I always wanted to be staff, but thought mmmmm betta not because of the crap I thought I might get from it. Once I posted it I never regretted a thing, the amount of support I got warmed my heart. I've been here for a little over a year and a half, and I want to thank everyone for everything.

And special thanks to all my staffie brethren for helping me realize what was right in front of me.

Re: My Favorite Oasis Memory

Post by Zwall99 on 4/30/2014, 10:08 pm

'Bout time I've hopped on this train. Due to my inability to choose a favorite memory, I'm sticking to favorite memory per version.

1.8 Beta

Hands down Zwall's shopping center. I was a guest who had ambition and I saw it perfectly okay to build a floating shop physically on the spawn border. It got griefed everyday, and it was probably the most griefed structure of that version. At the time, I thought it was the best thing ever. I ran a single shop with my friend Fuzzyplats, who introduced me to the server.

1.0.0 Release

Stuck between the original Zland and my time in Lakeview. I resided in lakeview which was run by JAMESTHEJRAGON and mick, whom I both know in real life. Zland was a small town that had a deal of people building there, including sainteven.

1.1

Zland 2. Spent nearly all my time woring on that town and it greatly payed off. I had a small community of people living there. Nothing major.

1.2.5

Nova042 coming back. That's it. Thats the only thing I'm including for this version.

1.3

Zland 3 and The Great Melon War. In the beginning of this version, mick and I constructed Zland 3. When we sold Osga a plot, things changed. His home became an infiltration base for his minions, and soon tried to overtake the city with pumpkins. In an effort to stop him, the Melon Alliance was formed. Information on this historical event.

1.4.x

Skaer Manor. I built this for fun, then started calling it my Artisan project for lack of a better reason to build it. In the end, I was promoted to artisan. It was one hell of a surprise. Also falling under this was my freak promotion to Veteran. After these specific promotions, it was intended that $50 donators could no longer be eligible for veteran. The vote between myself and AtractiveBanana was off by about 1 vote in his favor. After discussiong my situation with a few staff members, I ended up being promoted. It was not until later that $50 donators could run for veteran again.

1.5

Valhalla. My pvp team that had a glorius system with it. We were so set up and that was probably the most fun I've ever had here. For the entire month of June, thats what I always looked forward to.

1.6

The squid war. Luke and I formed the Squid Army in battle against ThatOneChick's Butter Army. War raged for a week or so. Soon enough, Krazo brought in his fleet of Grammar Nazi air ships, and the war was supposed to be over. Then we brought in the secret weapon. A giant squid with a gattling gun.

Naturally, being promoted to staff position on Oasis Pixelmon also falls under this. It was the biggest surprise I've ever had here, and I couldn't have been happier.

Reflecting on this, I'd like to thank all of you wonderful people for being here. If it wasnt for you all constantly making my day better, I would've been gone a long time ago.
Glad I got to share this.

- Zwall
