BSOD'd

Post by Big_Piglet on 8/25/2013, 4:29 pm

K so this is the third time I'm trying to post this since either my iPod made a thread I can't find, twice, or it just refreshed the posting page. No idea if I'll end up with 3 of these threads.

Anyway, last night I randomly got a BSOD I was hoping someone here could identify the cause of.

The message in it was "A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval."

I have no idea why this happened, since a websearch tells me this is a common BSOD for people who overclock, something I've never done because I know I'd just destroy my computer.

So, anyone have any idea what could have caused this, and how to prevent more?

Really hope this doesn't post multiple times....

First, make sure your bios is up to date.

second, stress test your processor with prime95.

third, If the issue still occurs and you know what you are doing you might try to mess with your CPU voltage or clock settings.

fourth, consider calling the manufacturer.

I'd be surprised if updating your bios doesn't fix it. Whenever I've had problems with CPU-invoked crashes it has been the fault of either an outdated bios or setting my clock speeds too high.

I have no idea what any of that means or how to do it.

I guess I'll try to update it tonight, but if I forget and it doesn't happen again any time soon I might be able to assume it was just a freak thing.... if it happens again I guess I'll drop whatever I'm doing and update immediately.
